Termeh fabric is actually a journey to the wonderful world of designs and patterns that have emerged from the culture, civilization and art of the tasteful people. Termeh is one of the most precious handicrafts of Iran, with a long history, which is woven from very delicate and subtle fibers. In the past, this exquisite fabric was woven like a hand-woven carpet, but today it is mostly produced in a semi-industrial way. The beginning date of Termeh weaving in Iran goes back to the beginning of Safavieh era, and this art reached its peak of prosperity and flourishing during the reign of Shah Abbas. Based on the historical inscription on stone that is placed in the hall of Yazd Jame Mosque and which mentioned on it that the weaving of this fabric is done by the residents of this city many centuries ago, it’s birthplace called Yazd. Although some believe that Termeh was woven originally in Kashmir, India, but the patterns of “Bote Jegheh” on it are indicative of the fine art of Iranian hands.
