Pazyrik is reminiscent of an ancient civilization from our motherland, Iran. This carpet was discovered in 1949 (in some sources 1946) in a frozen tomb attributed to rulers and nobles, along with some other valuable and ancient objects, by the Russian archaeologist, “Sergi Rudenko” and his team. It was common that after the burial ceremony, thieves and bandits would break into the tombs and in case there were any valuable things buried in them, they would pillage them. But luckily, the thieves did not take the carpet with them during the robbery and did not cover the hole either, because of this the carpet was exposed to very low temperature and freezing condition; hence it was protected by a thick layer of ice until the time it was discovered.
